At playgroup this week children used coloured craft feathers, pom-poms and scraps of tissue paper to make collages.
I gave them some nice thick paste because the more three-dimensional materials like pom-poms and feathers need a lot of glue. It's helpful to use a sturdy base such as cardboard for this kind of activity - I just cut up a couple of boxes into vaguely rectangular shapes and let the children choose the size they wanted. I also put out scissors and the roll of gold paper because older children often enjoy cutting out shapes by themselves and it's great to encourage scissor skills. For her second collage R requested textas and added some drawings.
The results were wonderfully colourful!
